Well my lovely green beans its now officially a month to go until Zero Waste Week! That can only mean one thing: a full week packed full of nifty tips and advice on how to cut wastage at home, as well as confessional stories from me attempting to cut down on consumerism ,and thinking out side of the box for zero waste solutions.
Last month I ran a Zero Waste competition in anticipation of the week, with a BRITA Fill & Serve, and 3 BRITA Fill & Go’s up for grabs for anyone who could give me three of their favourite tools for a zero waste foodie kit.
Well the comp is now closed and I’m happy to announce the following winners:

- A small shopping bag to keep in handbag.
- Bicarbonate of Soda

- Stainless steel water bottle
- Stainless steel lunch box
- A reusable bottle like a mason/kilner jar
- An infusing bottle
- Indian tiffin box
- A fabric napkin
- Reusable cutlery
- Reusable sandwich bags in a variety of sizes
- Beeswrap or homemade waxed cloth

But the ideas did’t stop at tools for the kitchen! Here’s a sneak peek at a few extra zero waste ideas which came through in the entries:
- Bamboo toothbrush flannels or make your own pieces of cloth to remove make up.
- Menstrual cup
- Cloth cotton rounds
- Textile sanitary products

- Stone deodorant “they last forever.”
- Colloidal silver spray – “my portable first aid kit in a glass bottle. Use on spots, rashes, sore throats, nasal irritation, sore ears, eczema, dirty hands, even to wipe surfaces, etc.”
