Nevermind the burdocks

Giveaway: Never Mind the Burdocks!

Today is a very important day. Not only is it the big day for the Scottish Referendum, but it also happens to be A Lazy Girl Goes Greens 6 month anniversary!

I have been blown away by the amount of support and love I have received over the last 6 months; not just from friends and family, but from  all of the other amazing bloggers who have welcomed me into their green living gang and continue to inspire me. A massive thank you to everyone who has commented on my blogs, liked my facebook posts or shared my bits and bobs on Twitter. It’s this kind of blog love that has kept me going when I felt like no one was out there and I suspected I was just talking a load of nonsense!

What started as a little project to keep me out of trouble during the summer, has turned into an extra limb, in which a day doesn’t go  by where I don’t discover something new and think “oh…I must blog about that!” Now I’m hooked and there’s so much more to come 🙂

To celebrate this little milestone I wanted to give something back to my wonderful lazy green readers. So I’m offering up two copies of one of my favourite books this summer: the fabulous Never Mind the Burdocks: a year of foraging in the British Isles.

Nevermind the burdocks

This book – written by foraging expert and Eden project horticulturist Emma Gunn –  is one the most comprehensive foraging books around; packed with plant advice and information, as well as tasty ways to cook up what you find. Each plant is presented with a large, easily identifiable image, where it can be found, when to be cautious and what bits are edible. This truly is a foraging enthusiasts must have book!

How to Enter

To get your hands one of these books I am asking just one thing: tell me what your favourite A Lazy Girl Goes Green post has been over the last 6 months. Maybe you’ve found success with one of my vegan recipes? Or perhaps you learnt something new with my “understanding” series? Either way, I would love to know what you found useful or interesting, so I can make sure the next 6 months are equally worth a read!

Simply comment on this post with the title of the post you’ve liked the most and share a link to it on your Twitter or Facebook page to spread the love. I will enter your name into a draw and pull out two winners from a “hat” and announce them in a weeks time! Easy Peasy 🙂

UPDATE: competition is now closed my lovelies!

And please feel free to share this giveaway too, the more thoughts the better! Good luck and thanks again!

  1. Hey lovely – happy blogaversary. This book sounds fab – I’m so aware that this time of year there are wonderful things to be eaten for free, but I’m just not sure what!
Anyway, my fave post was undoubtedly your Friday night in with a cauliflower stump. I had a go at making these ‘crisps’ on Sunday and they were a winner – so THANK YOU for inspiring me, helping me prevent food waste and for adding something new to my recipe book!

  2. My favourite blog was your one on veganism vs. sustainability, as it is a challenge that has been levelled at me before as a vegetarian and it is interesting to hear other people’s opinions too.
Well done on 6 months brilliant blogs! X

  3. I haven’t been reading for very long, but I liked your ideas from Zero Waste Week, especially day 1. I was never very happy throwing away the pulp from juicing, this has given me an idea of what to do with it.

  4. My favourite post was ‘how the sharing economy can save your summer’. I really liked your tips, which remind me of the sort of tips you often pay to read in magazines!

  5. While all your posts are engaging and inspiring, I found the ‘A contradiction in ethics: can you really be vegan and green’ a nice attempt at tackling some of the spiritual implications of labelling oneself ‘vegan’ within our messy world 🙂

  6. Got to be the “controlling the hoard” one – it described me perfectly and I could help but chuckle 🙂 Plus it was a gentle reminder that there are always other options for clearing my house if I look for them! I also found the “contradiction in ethics” post interesting xx
