Happy Friday lazy green people, and what a lovely Friday it is! The sun is shining here in Cornwall and I’m trying to stay as cool as possible without reaching for the (dairy-free) ice-cream!  Instead, I’m keeping my hydration up and exporting myself to somewhere more exotic with my favorite tropical thirst quenching juice of watermelon, pineapple and cucumber!

I first came across this recipe a couple of weeks ago, when I was testing out my new Juico UNO juicer (see my review here) and was looking for something extra juicy. What I loved about this recipe is how much juice to pulp ratio you get, and – as my UNO is almost completely self-cleaning – I didn’t have to bother cleaning it out afterwards! Get Lost in Samsara, with a new ethical swap shop

I have long been a fan of the sharing economy concept – both ethically and financially – from Streetbanks Christmas advent challenge; to all the nifty ways sharing can save you money in the summer months.

So, I was very excited this week to hear from two lovely Italian ladies Marvia and Alessia – or Lost in Samsara – who have been passionately building an ethical swap shop initiative in London, as well as a website for others to join in on the sharing fun.

The Wheel Project is a new online platform which aim to bypass money and allow people to go straight to swapping goods and skills with one another. The process is easy peasy: simply choose what you’d like to swap, register on the website, create an offer and upload a picture. Review: Juico Uno Slow Juicer

For anyone who follows me on Instagram, or has ever seen me on my weekly fruit and veg haul at the market, you’ll know I love juicing. And I mean really love juicing. I don’t just enjoy creating new concoctions based on what’s in season at the time, or the pleasure of downing my 5 a day in one sitting; I also love the zero waste challenge too, as I attempt to use up the juice pulp in the most interesting and nutritious ways.

How to remedy the environmental disaster that is Planned Obsolescence

We’ve all, at some time or another, rolled our eyes at our elders as they claim in dismay that “things just aren’t made to last the way they used to”. Clutching on to the same moth ridden coat they’ve worn since the 40s, or fervently plodding down the road at 20mph in their trusty Morris minors; our grandparents are the kings and queens of frugal living. Their dusty and unchanging homes are living museums of the “golden Years”; where purchases were made for longevity, and are generously cared for as though they were the last of their kind left on Earth. Ethical Mobile Phone Network

Last summer, I posted a blog – Love Thy Old Phone (and Lazily Cut Electrical Waste) – about how I refused to buy in to the increasing culture of upgrading to a new phone every time one was offered. I’ve had the same old iphone for the last 3 years and have saved load of money on a sim only contract which gives me all the calls, texts and data I had before, but over half the price of my previous contract. I’ve continued over this last year to be smug in the knowledge that I haven’t contributed to the millions of phones being discarded yearly, and have the bashed up device to prove it! The Observer Ethical Awards 2015

I’m back in Cornwall after an amazingly inspiring (and amazing hot and sweaty..) week in London.  It was great to catch up with my London office girls and get a change of scenery to mix up my working week, but the highlight had to be a night spent at the Observer Ethical Awards courtesy of the lovely people at Ecover!

This year marked the 10th year of the awards, which are all about celebrating the people, organisations and campaigners who are leading the way to ensure we have an ethical future. The categories for the awards ranged from Campaigner of the year and Community energy project award, to Ethical product of the decade!! Longstanding supporter of the awards, Ecover, sponsored the young green champions category; presenting the winner with  a £6,000 bursary to continue and build on their great work. Being Green Whilst Travelling…. Eating seasonably in Australia

A while ago Trudi wrote a piece about eating seasonably and all the benefits of it.  When I was in England, I tried my best to eat seasonably, as being a lazy girl it was an easy way to be green with fairly minimal effort and you get the food at its best. Everyone’s a winner.

This is something I have tried to continue whilst in Australia.  However it’s been slightly more challenging this side of the world for a few different reasons.  One of those being that the seasons are reversed here, meaning I have to switch June around in my brain from Summer to Winter, and all the foods I associate with winter which to me is pumpkins, root vegetables, yummy soups and Christmas dinner (Veggie style).   Continue reading Being Green Whilst Travelling…. Methods Limited Edition Sunset Beach range

I’m not usually one for raving about cleaning products. In fact, I’m not usually one for cleaning much at all!! One of the benefits of living alone is I can wait until I have used all of my dishes before I have to clean them up, and my bathroom stays relatively dirt free with just one person using it. It’s for this reason, that I’ve never posted product reviews or tips on cleaning…as I’m still using up the many of the products I had before I went green!

However, after recently being sent some Method goodies in the post, to test out their new limited edition Sunset Beach range, I’ve become a little hooked on cleanliness! Though a little dust never hurt anyone (That’s my moto anyway) I finally have the motive to do a proper spring/summer clean. My kitchen counters have never looked so clear!
